grappoli di uve Barbera pre-vendemmia fine settembre 2021

pre-harvest grapes

Grapes: ripe grapes (harvest end of September)

As this is a non-DOC wine, we are not allowed to indicate either the vintage or the grape variety.

Pre-harvesting : pre-harvesting, discarded grapes are used for other purposes (jam or vinegar, for own use).

Harvesting: grapes harvested BY HAND and then further sorted.

Harvesting during the coolest hours of the day, to ensure low fermentation. Harvesting and transfer directly into boxes or vats, to avoid crushing the stalks.

IMMEDIATE transfer to the cellar.

Yield: 8,7 tonnes/ha

Steel cask approx. 12-15 months, subsequent refinement in the bottle

Colour: red

Nose: delicate, pleasant

Taste: fresh, fruity

Type: still

Sugars: dry

Structure: full-bodied

Acidity: moderate

ABV: 13,50 %

Pairing: all white meat dishes, grilled vegetables and young cheeses. Obviously also first courses with these ingredients and sauces also with meat but not particularly strong, such as ragú alla napoletana.

To get the best of what nature has given us, try to bring ‘red error’ to 13-15°C. At very low temperatures, such as refrigerator temperatures (generally 3 to 6°C), the bouquet is hardly perceptible. Conversely, room temperatures, usual for red wines, would not enhance the velvety, perfumed taste. So drink it chilled, as mentioned, at temperatures of 13-15°C
